Home Sick
Shot in MP4, color was a major aspect of this short film. Adding in an adjustment layer allowed the color to become washed, the mask animating away only once the home’s door is opened.
As the sole cinematographer and editor of this project, compiling everything in accordance to the storyboards I had created was relatively starightforward. Shot in mp4, there was no color to add back in with a LUT, so all the dulling was done by me. The world was meant to be diluted of color, with his home being the only place where color existed.
All of the outdoor shots only included natural lighting, with the home’s front door scene having two LED lights placed to the side of the camera. Both lights were warmer, with the key light being a warmer golden color. The fill light simply being a much dimmer brightness of the key light.
Being shot outdoors, all of the sound design was replaced in post. As this is a silent film, there was no need for the actor to complete any ADR for lines, which meant post-production went a lot smoother.
