Sore Loser
This was a very greenscreen forward shoot. The intro scene was shot in two parts, one with the subject in front of a greenscreen, and another with him out of the way with the monitors placed down. This allowed his hair to be placed in front of the screen, and for the game to not clip his hair at all while overlaying it. The pixelated fight scenes were footage of the actors punching and falling in front of a large greenscreen. A Posturize Time effect and a mosaic effect were placed onto the cut out actors to get that retro, fighting game style.

Keying out the greenscreen, adding a posturize Time, and a mosaic effect to the actor allow the clean cut out of the actor to have that retro fighting game aesthetic.
Getting two separate shots of the environment without the subject, and one with the subject in front of a greenscreen allowed us to easily overlay the game screen onto the monitor without needing to rotoscope over the actor’s hair.
Using a single panel light and a lowered camera, we were able to simulate the actor looking into an active monitor. The light acting as a monitor’s glare, and the camera being the monitor the actor is looking into.
